I can sense,
"Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you",
bells already.

My girl Granger seems to be going through the smart girl syndrome - a disease where you end up crushing over the worst of the lot. It's difficult to read about teenagers 'snogging' each other up let alone talk about it loudly!
"So dumb guys go for dumb girls AND smart guys go for dumb girls? What do the smart girls get?
- Cats, mostly."
No, my girl. There don't exist smart guys. All of them are gross!

"At times it seemed they were running not so much against a diminutive 62 year old political candidate but a myth, a legend in a sari and dusty sandals."

She sure was one formidable woman with immense trust in her people. An educated leader, with socialist ideologies, dealing with a toddler that was India at her time. It wasn't going to be easy. With conflicts in her own cabinet, plotting every now and then like that wily Tom chasing the ever deft Jerry. Despite this she was human and above all a woman of the conservative India which I am guessing leads to Emergency.

I love how Jane Austen writes. The plot still is about, "just a bunch of people visiting each other's houses." but it is only Jane's use of the English Language and her witty sentences that I am willing to read when even after reading almost half of the book, I can't figure out her intentions with these characters.

Either I will finish this book or this book will finish me.
I think one of the fears I have developed nearing the end of this book is that I might seem like a Levin to people - no concrete ideologies, only a self-loathing, self-sufficient but also always a cry baby man-child, wanting to write about new systems but forgetting at the slightest hint of joy thrown into life and romanticizing the hell out of everything.

This is one of those books that lie on the ends of the spectrum. I am ready to touch one of these ends just for the sake of feeling something definite for once in a lifetime. As they say hate is metallic and there never was anything wrong with love.
"But to feel nothing, so as not to feel anything.. What a waste!"

Will come back to this disclaimer after finishing the book and see if I stay true to it.
