The audio pronunciation is a bit distracting - bark for back and pom for palm.

I'm not sure why this is rated so highly. Whilst Lady Anne experienced something terrible, it does not excuse her from shouting at her hosts, nor banging on her friend's husband's door for half an hour. How can it be said she follows propriety? It's very gothic fishwife so far

The forward seems to be saying if you trigger in America over depression, they've got you with a very long list of phone numbers. If you trigger in any other English-reading country, you are on your own, alien weirdo. I'd rather not have had to listen to several minutes of digit reading in the audiobook. Refer to a reference in the back, FFS.

Points for having a fat hero? Er, no.

I really do think it is a disservice to the women this story is based on that the spy is TDTL, FFS.

Surprised to find that this isn't a first book, as the author has a habit of showing then telling the same thing. The characterisation is also a bit vague so far.

For an unmarried miss she's very sexually adventurous. And now there's a bloody pelican in England. WTF?

I seem to be in the minority looking at the ratings. Who leaves a 3 year old unsupervised to go and have nookie? Who reads instead of playing with their three year old in the first place? Who seduces a woman away from looking after said three year old with no long term honorable intentions? Not characters I want to empathize with.

The total excitement of having a New Zealand kick arse heroine is completely obliterated by a cover that is obviously trying to put off all female readers.

Highlights are Courtney Milan, Erica and Laura Kaye.

There is a lot of internal monologue and exposition.

A Dundee Christmas - DNF on chapter 8. Loved the idea of the heroine and her strength, but I didn't care for either character on an emotional level and got too bored to finish this story.

Fascinating but hard when it is sickly sweet, or rather sweetly sick Have to listen to it in small doses.

Desperate Measures, Candice Hern: Meh. 2 stars.
Upon a Midnight Clear, Anna Campbell: Hmm. Like the concept, but just didn't believe the characters and the love from a difficult, arranged marriage. Given we are given no hint that the hero had been as chaste as his wife, I can only imagine the diseases he's bringing back into that marriage... 2 stars

OMG the editing is appalling. It keeps kicking me out of the story, because changes to the storyline have not been updated through the book. They're in a gilt room, no a gallery. They have a normal chat, no they've overheard a conversation about killing a man to do with the art exhibition. Who copy edits this stuff?

Not sure about this one. Might be a DNF. It's slightly stilted and I personally think it's not particularly Christian to call a character who feels no guilt reformed if he still gropes the heroine at every opportunity.
