I've gone through more than half of the book, and while it hasn't been boring at all, I've realised that nothing much really happens. Curious to see how it ends.

Prologue was nicely written. But lead in to crucial scenes is poor, like Jade becoming a courtesan and Jungho joining the communists.

Jade asking to be a courtesan. Jungho asking Loach how to get rich. Some parts of this book sound so unnatural, the transition to the main point so forced.
