Just had to share this bc WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

It’s hard to wrap my mind around the way I’m seen and see myself in my home country and the country I’ve now lived in for 10+ years, and how the concepts in the book apply to my life. Good food for thought guess.

This book has zero chill. I keep needing to take breaks to process everything that’s happening.

A lot of interesting history here, but I’m a little annoyed at all the times the author goes:

“Would things have been different if they hadn’t all been conservative/nerdy/bro-y white men? I guess we can’t know for sure but I’m sure we all agree it wouldn’t have ended up this way.”

Which? I do agree, but the constant reminders of the dynamics at play are frankly a bit insulting.

So far I’m not in love with the writing or the turn the story took, but without spoiling anything, that scene in the lead prison cell was everything!

It took me a while to warm up to this book but I’m having a really hard time putting it down now! I feel like there are a few very obvious plot twists about to be revealed but we’ll see if I’m right.
