DNFing. This book blue ballsed me. None of the book actually takes place at the camp. It’s all just aftermath of what happened at the camp. Based on what others said in the bookclub, there were a couple of concepts that don’t even connect.

Whelp dint finish it in time for book club. To be honest, listening to this book has been a fever dream. Someone died and I don’t even remember them dying. I must’ve zoned out or something.

Great, now I’m going to be apprehensive of walking into the hallway when it’s completely pitch black. Ugh, I hate when adults are condescending to kids. 😒😒 lowkey kinda wish we were already at the camp. This is a lot of buildup, the payout better be worth it. I’m trying to power through this book.

Note to self do not eat when reading the first couple chapters. Also this is a second horror book in which they gave me the scientific name for goosebumps and then explained what they were lol

Is it weird and concerning that I can relate to the main female character? I guess that’s important that she’s relatable cause you can see how she ended up in the situation. I also am loving the vampire diaries references and TS references. I’m seeing a correlation of TS to campy horror/thriller books and loving it. Lol

Oh gosh. She said all the stuff to make her seem guilty af. Like she wanted them dead. And the fact that it was all real and not in her head is crazy for lack of a better word. lol

Definitely giving yellowjacket/riverdale/sabrina vibes. Visceral and descriptive imagery. Second “horror” book I’ve read where there’s some sort of romantic component with a demon like creature.

Sigh. 😔 I think I know how this is going to end. And uuuggghhhhh. I get why. I understand the meaning. But if I’m right then it’s such a cliche. And something is off about Renee. 😒 I wish there was a narrows eyes emoji. lol.

Well…shhhiiiiitttt. If anything this books has strengthened my thought on babies being parasites 🦠 and surviving off the host body. Her pregnancy (and the birth) was eerily similar to that of Bella’s from Twilight.

Audiobook. I’m actually really enjoying this so far. Maybe this year is the year of thrillers and horrors for me. I was worried it was going to be one dimensional and subtlety MAGA-esque. But it’s not. I feel sorry for her. Not that she’s a trad wife but that she clearly wants to have what she thinks is the perfect life and thinks she’s no one without someone to care for.

So I caught this midway in the book but every single character in this book is named after a character in a horror movie. Which you would only get if you watch horror movies. This TSwift references are 💯. But it’s not overly done so even if you aren’t a swifty or like her music, it should be fine. Satisfying ending just have epilogue left. 1000% could see this as a movie.

Ddduuuuuuuddeeeee. Da fuck. Let me hide in that room with those six ppl. That would be the only way I’d survive something like this lol. 😆 there seems to be hope for them yet. I wanna listen to the last 11% but alas. That’ll be for tomorrow morning. I’ve still got a lot of questions tho.

I knew it! I f-ing knew it. Gah. The reveal was 😯😯. I went through soooo May emotions in th last few chapters during this reading session. And I’m writing this about an hour after so I think I may relisten to the reveal again to accurately document how I was feeling.

That was the most heart wrenching death. 😩 Me wanting to chant “kiss kiss kiss” but not wanting them to die cause they kiss. Rule number one in a horror movie is no sex, but does that include kissing?? Matching kinds of crazy??!!

Ya know, I have a sneaking suspicion that there may be more than one killer. But I’m not sure what the other killers motive might be. Other than loving to kill people that is. I am glad I decided to audiobook
this for the sound effects are top notch. Definitely keeping me on the edge of my seat. 💺

Onto chapter 22 and I started thinking if me and my bestie would survive this or not. I would like to think we’d make it close to the end of the book if not be the final girls. Gosh I really like her and Wes. The chemistry is like 🔥. But I also like her and John and the chemistry there is more a slow burn more 🥺

Omg. This killer name is sooooo overused. Especially around Valentine’s Day. It’s still a good story and I’m still enjoying it. It’s just there are parts that are so cliche it’s cringy.

Yep as soon as she said there was something different about the eyes of the mask I knew what the difference was. Cliche as all get out lol. Can you guess what it was? 🙄 although my heart was PUMPING when she stumbled across him. Gah. I was yelling at her. She was yelling at herself. Classic 😆

Okay I have two or three choice characters that the killer can kill. Like uuuuuggghhhhh 😩😩 still funny and the chemistry between Wes and Jamie is just *french kiss* 🤌🏻 and John is so goofy adorable. I want to keep listening but I have to do other things 😒

Eeeeeeeeeee! The cute tension between Jamie and Wes. I’m actually surprised that (1) she can’t remember Stu’s name because there’s Stu from Scream (2) she hasn’t made a Wes Craven joke either for Wes. So that seems like a miss from the author. Also fuck Stu. He can die. Eeeehhhh. Not sure about Billie. John seems nice enough.

Ooooooo. Now it’s picking up! Bodies are falling and people are spiraling. Some red herrings happening. And ugh some of these male characters are buffoons. I like this a lot so far the main character Jamie reminds me a lot of that one guy from Scream that was the horror buff and kept reminding people of the horror franchise rules.

🎧 “Be still my beating heart. Be still my equally beating vagina.” 😆 okay, it’s getting funny. I was about to be angry saying they outed who the killer is because there is a male narrating a male character and usually only the main characters get to have their lines narrated. But they’re narrating two male characters for now. I am slightly annoyed with how many horror references there are

audio. I get it she’s getting her masters in cinematography. But holy crap the amount of references to cinematography is overwhelming. Listening to this is like when you get stuck talking to someone who is snoddy about cinematography. We’re just now starting to see a little bit more of her actual personality at the end of chapter 2.In my opinion could’ve started the story without putting the thesis in the story
