I guess the annual boycott of the Goodreads Choice Awards has begun. I wonder if they will continue to pretend it's about readers this year or if they'll finally admit it's just paid product placement.

Another meeting that should have been an e-mail.

It's good but I feel like screaming "get on with it already".

There is a great 400 page story in this 672 page book.

Decided by Us? I think not.

I read as many as 150 books per year, mostly new releases.
And yet in the genres I read 1 single book made it into the "official" (mysterious) nominations.

And then 2 years ago they decided to make it even less about the readers, the heart and soul of GR and they took away the write in nominations.

GR Choice Awards are a sick joke and a waste of time.

Yet another year where the GR Choice Awards only contains two books I read and honestly both of those books I rated 2 Stars.
I could list two dozen books in the genres I tend to read that are outstanding books by bestselling authors and not one of them was listed in the GR Noms.

Another book that should have been a video game.

It's so confusing. Maybe if you've read the other books in the series you would understand what's going on but I haven't and things happen that make no sense.

She drives a BMW. Her friends drive a Porsche and a Corvette. Seriously?
Did the author accidentally make all her characters annoying rich white tosspots.

There is some sort of dark alchemy going on.
I have no idea where this book came from. I don't remember buying it. I don't know why I would have bought it. I don't know anything about it.
It just showed up on Kindle and I opened it and honestly I'm kind of loving it.

My New Year's resolution for the year is to read at least 24 books by women of colour.

Faith Hunter's Shattered Bonds and Mark Henwick's Inside Straight are both out tomorrow. Can't start anything new so rereading this because I've already read many times and I don't mind walking away part of the way through.

Not really sure what I think yet.
I was kind of hoping for 3 kickass heroines and I've been given a moon-eyed heroine and a hero who's a bit of an asshat.

It's not bad. It's actually pretty good. But those books are a dime a dozen so the second half needs to be great to make it stand out from the pack.

Damn this is good.

My sister gave me this for Christmas. It was painted by a local Blue Mountains artist, Karen @WhipitStudio ... I just had it framed.

For my entire life I've never noticed there are three "C"s in Connecticut. I've never noticed the middle one. And autocorrect has always fixed my mistake.

Laini Taylor's books take commitment. They are always challenging for the first few chapters. But the rewards more than make up for it. Muse of Nightmares is stunning and there is even a nod to her other series DoSaB.
