I am grateful to have found a book that gives me permission to do nothing else but indulge in the text. I'm encouraged to give my brain a reprieve and refrain from my constant multitasking. 💜

Not making fast progress at all. Have listened to this section twice already, going back over bits section by section because the story demands full attention, and I have waited too long to read this book. I have no idea what direction the book is actually going in, but I feel comfortable hanging out with these academics who have found themselves thrown together.

What an interesting book this has been! I've had a few conversations recently about how AI is generally replacing people in the world of work, but this is next level. Imagine being displaced as a woman.

There are some 'hmmm' moments as Iris rationalises her thoughts, but honestly, this book is torturous. I don't like her, and I don't like her attitude. I wonder whether it would be better to read rather than listen to the book.

I usually love controversial characters, but is Iris poorly written, poorly performed, or poorly received? If I was without my prejudice towards her, would I see her as representative of MH?

I have anticipated this read for a while, and now im not sure why. I can't work out if I like Iris or not. The blurb tells me she is struggling with mental health. At points, this is really clear in the book, at other times, she just appears to be a bit of a b**ch. I don't know whether to give her a break or accept that she just isn't a particularly nice person. She just seems set to sabotage mode 24/7.

I was a Lee Child fan long before Sam Holland came along. I read The Visitor (book 4, Teacher series) a good decade ago. It was my first experience of child, and it has always stuck with me. I can't shake the feeling that this book, although more graphic, is going to share some key similarities.

I don't really know what to expect from this book. TBH, I wouldn't have selected this book if it wasn't part of a goodreads challenge. That said, I read a few reviews where people were moved by how the weaving of textiles contained messages about womanhood and feminism.

I'm looking forward to completing the challenge and earning all 12 bookmarks. Stumbling across something new in the process is just a bonus.

I was browsing mumsnet (as you do), and there was a whole thread on there about the order of dressing, namely, what do you cover first, knickers or knockers?

The OP was in a right tizzy over whether she could trust the novel if they had the female lead put her bra on before her knickers. The fact that another person identified the book from that scene, and there was outright war over etiquette, reeled me right in.

The only other theory I have is that Jess's husband caused Lauren's accident. It caused her to lose her baby, so he sold his and Jess's to stop her going to the police...

I have no proof and nothing has been said but I have this feeling that this is going to result in a couple swapping their baby, or stealing a baby passing it off as their own amd then when real.mother steals him, they actually report her for doing so thinking they won't have to prove DNA.

Now I'm.looking for the problems. Someone here is lying! But Lauren made a stranger admission at the start. *scratches head*.
