Having read the first two chapters I can see why a lot of the reviews describe the book as ‘dry’ a ‘slog’ and ‘difficult to get through’. These chapters are historiography. The methodology of history and the quality and pitfalls of sources isn’t necessary riveting stuff. But if you have some background as a historian I think you’ll get through no problem. And personally I found it interesting.
