This textbook for abstract algebra begins at a very elementary level. I hope that it will be amenable to my efforts to master abstract algebra -- a subject that's tough for me.

This book should challenge any skeptic to reexamine the evidence for his/her skepticism.

I'm reading the first essay in the book, John Locke's "An Essay Concerning Human Understanding". I find it to be somewhat tough reading -- rather tedious and dry. Locke did, however, have some brilliant insights into certain philosophical issues.

This book, consisting mostly of letters Bertrand Russell wrote to newspapers, is highly revealing of Russell's dedication to making the world a better and safer place. Given his atheist presuppositions, however, I cannot seek to emulate his life, his philosophies, or his values. Nevertheless, he was a brilliant philosopher, logician, and writer -- nearly unsurpassed.

A very interesting book, but I cannot endorse its physicalist undergirding. How the brain interacts with the mind is a mystery too great for the human intellect to decipher. Even Michio Kaku, with all his scientific expertise, cannot achieve that feat -- he won't even come close.

Joseph Schrock is on page 86 of 113 of Quantum Theory: A Very Short Introduction
I've almost finished this little book. Some of it is pretty tough reading for a non-physicist -- like myself. I will, however, give the book high marks for explaining the vastly diverse theoretical/philosophical implications of quantum theory. I've not yet decided on any specific theoretical perspective -- as one I could most nearly endorse, as a mere layman.

I recommend the book for those interested in physics.
