This book is really making me appreciate 1) how much of my knowledge of arthurian canon comes from BBC Merlin and 2) how much BBC Merlin diverged from the arthurian canon .

My number one satire pet peeve is 1) main character is so laughable stupid and dislikeable that every single thing they do is wrapped up in them being an awful person (i call this the marvel villainization complex) and 2) health issues as satirical fodder.
