Then there is also the matter of Patricia Holm who wakes up to worldy matters and discovers she likes adventures.
Who is the Tiger?- A question not yet answered but there are a million reasons to find out.

Simon gets detained by a villain then leads his cronies in a merrie chase around a garden while sending Patricia Holm on her merry way .

This book nearing its centenary still does not fail to entertain me. I have a copy from 1928 in my humble collection, this being a recent copy of 185 pages.

After entertaining the law Simon goes for a midnight walk and witnesses a foul blackmail scheme and the butler ends up with damaged nose because the door won.

A chapter in which Simon meets the local faces at lunch including the local Algy whose Woodhousian description gives him a lot of What what?
Simon then goes on wandering in the North Devon nature and meets a man with a Butterfly net and a gun which seems a bit excessive hunting butterflies.

In which we meet Simon Templar and his manservant Orace who have taken residence in a WW1 fortification called the Pill Box. After a morning swim and an attempt at our hero being killed by the bullit variety Simon takes a stroll to meet the locals in Baycombe. There he meets the loveliest girl ever who he intends to rescue a few times during his upcoming adventure, enter Patricia Holm.

A restart of reading of this book, it concerns the Dutch written hero called the Shadow in which a pilgrimage is involved.
The writer Havank is a genius with the Dutch language and it shows, he was also the translator of Charteris Saintly hero into Dutch. Which is how I discovered the translator his own books.
