A brilliantly written deconstruction of American exceptionalism. This is not an even-handed book. It's a stinging polemic. I have the feeling I'm going to find myself disagreeing over some points in the chapters to come. At the same time it's an intelligent and wickedly humorous book. And I have a hunch it's going to end up being an important book that's going to demand we all interact with it.
