The Nick Chater-fest continues.

Trying to understand Chater.

Part Two, ending with the naming of Caleb and Aaron…

Books 1-4 of Mendelsohn translation.

Books 1-4.

Fascinating, and makes me want to read the Desmond and Moore biography of Darwin too.

I'm reading this on vacation to the Galapagos Islands. The first time I met Professor Dennett at a conference (circa 2008), he recommended that I go back and read DDI; I'm finally taking his advice!

His first years in Congress, the Longlea affair, and electricity to the Hill Country.

Part One. What great characters.

So interesting to have these concepts explained by the Grants themselves.

I’d forgotten how fun Vonnegut was. Fun and oddly prescient.

For next week’s Persuasion conversation.

Up to 1937, the last few years LBJ is running NYA in TX, plus problems with a new dam and Brown & Root.

Books 5 and 6. Lots more drama and intrigue! I’ll be sad when this is over.

Through Book Four. What a great story, again.

Books 1 and 2. Really enjoying this even more the second time around.

The Escape. His college years, one year of teaching, the call to first DC job.

Nice longer history of human exploration of the islands. Setting down to read the next part of Caro.

Fascinating.

Intro and The Trap. His family history and his life through a few years after high school, up until he finally agrees to attend college.

So good!

Good history with interesting running explanation of an important match.

Read only the Introduction for a new monthly slow-read virtual book club.

Washington is in charge now. Siege of Boston. Vacation is over, switching form kindle to paperback version.

Aftermath of Concord and Lexington.

Great story so far, lots of local details.

Pausing while on vacation.

Summer of 1777, Washington waiting to see where Howe moves his giant army next…

Backed up to the beginning of the current chapter. Picking this back up after enjoying The Glorious Cause.
