Heavy material. Not for those lacking poetic inclination and desires for profound thoughts on life, sex and the ways of the flesh.
My dictionary has been a much needed companion.

I am listening to this on Audible and I cannot stop! These two professors work perfectly together, are unbiased and present such great information and thought to the text. The history they give you in regards to what is occurring in the world at the time he was born up until he wrote his confessions is very interesting and allows you to know why and how he interpreted his life’s errors the way he did.

Currently addicted to my kindle. Still prefer a real book but oh the convenience and cheaper for reading my classics!

Listening on audible. Hard to get past the overuse of the n word but I am aware of the context in reference to the society then and that it is not a personal opinion of Twain. I love Twain but for me this not guck are attention grabbers like his other works. I prefer his autobiographical account of Life on the Mississippi more which is what inspired the two.

extremely touching memoir of husband’s perspective in watching his wife suffer through mental health issues. Does’t linger on Hisself, always keeps the focus on her & how he can work WITH her and not FOR her. As someone who is separating due to my own bipolar&alcoholic husband this does’t breed contempt or resentment or jealousy but rather a much needed reminder that real men exist and people DO CARE.

Kipling is a literary master. He writes very intellectually and I couldn’t imagine reading this straight through. However, it’s excellent.
