What the &@*? Throw the whole boy away!!!

The MC is fun, but my ARC is absolutely riddled with continuity errors, grammar issues, and even incorrect geography leading to a frustrating and bewildering reading experience. Not sure how much of this got fixed for final publication.

This book is my worst nightmares come to life. 10/10 so far.

This is surprisingly different from the show. I guess they do always say that “the book was better” lol

“People who cease to believe in God or goodness altogether still believe in the devil. I don’t know why. No, I do indeed know why. Evil is always possible. And goodness is eternally difficult.”

I’m struggling to finish this one 😬

Miscommunication as a plot device is my reader kryptonite, but I’ll try to finish this book 😮‍💨

Then he took hold of the handle and pushed, and the horror of the night began.”

Pretty slow paced. I was looking forward to this read so much but the main plot doesn’t appear to have even started yet and I’m getting bored 😭

Really enjoying all the scheming in this book!

A bit preachy on the environmentalism, but I’m loving the characters and their relationship developments

“I wonder what life will be like a millenium from now, when the average age will be nearer to one thousand. Will we all be renaissance children, skilled at every art and science, because we’ve had the time to master them?”

Interesting… this book treats Jane Eyre as a prequel but does not advertise this fact at all in the promotional copy. I was expecting a completely original new story about vigilante justice but it so far it pretty constantly references just what happened in Jane Eyre from a child’s perspective.

Having played Kotor 2, where your character pillages sith tombs on Korriban, it's a fun tie-in to see Apprentice Bane explore these same tombs 3,000 years later and be upset that they are empty.

The narration is fantastic and plot-wise it is so fascinating to see Bane as a relatively neutrally ethical person traverse the path further into the dark side.

I'm loving this magic system -- power coming from an alphabet where you pay to learn characters is such an interesting way to visualize the social and economical hierarchy of the novel's society.

Why did they just say “All Yours, kiddo” to someone they had sex with just a couples hours ago? Who is out here calling their lover ‘kiddo’??? It’s such an unnecessary throw-away line, but it weirdly took me out of the book for a moment 😂
