I’m loving this

Struggling to get into this mainly because it seems so heavily inspired by Sula, but Sula both in plot and prose is so singular.. the characterizations are falling flat for me right now.

I never do updates before I’m done, but as a huge fan of Dan Brown and a HUGE fan of Dante’s Inferno, this is basically book p*rn for me.

Still waiting for this to become the ‘great American novel’ I was promised… I read classics like it’s my job and read 4 Dostoevsky novels in one year, so either Steinbeck is a more sophisticated author than Dostoevsky and operating at a genius level beyond my understanding OR…. Steinbeck is grossly overrated. My ego puts my money on the latter.
