Interesting takes on time travel

Not at all what I had expected, but strange and lovely all the same. Feels like the love child of The Bear and the Nightingale and The Nigh Circus took a liking to Grims fairytales.

Kind of feels like it wants to be a kind of Becky Chambers take on A Memory Called Empire and A Desolation Called Peace (smooshed together) without understanding what made the duology great or the Becky Chambers books such tea for the soul. That sounds mean— it’s not that bad, it’s just not as original as it wants to be.

There is a lot more murder than I expected for a book about migrating birds

Not my favorite as far as first contact stories, but the cli fi aspect is a nice touch and the gender thing is cool. I can definitely see fans of Becky chambers loving it
