Backstory and filler words and adverbs, oh my. Trying to silence my inner editor…

Hard to read. Very choppy

I’m afraid this book is in need of an editor. Lots of distancing usage, extraneous punctuation. I keep waiting for the ghost, but it is overshadowed by the diaphanous night rail and barely controlled lust. They are in possession of the key to the mystery but are in no hurry, apparently,to stop the killer WHO by the way, has their own unnecessary POV. I’m not enjoying the read.

So there’s an incredible amount of backstory to slog through at the beginning, and with a character who doesn’t know her parentage, she suddenly knows her grandfather is her absentee father’s father rather than the other options available to her. Struggling.

I will read anything Jill shalvis writes because I love her stories, but I have to say I love the romance more than the women’s fiction drama.

I have enjoyed Whitneys other books, and for that reason, I’m sticking with this one, but its very slow going. Not a fan of The Mothers and their POV which feels superfluous .

So when your mother abuses you, and your kindly father asks what’s wrong, why on earth wouldn’t you out her?

This needs an editor. No typos, just a lot of blah blahblah and “truth be told.” Hoping it gets better...

This is the second of Whitneys books that I’ve read. I love her off the wall characters, and I love the mysticism in this one.

I love Julia Quinn, truly. Not sure if its because this is an audiobook or one of her early works, but I'm really not enjoying this story.

I wish my favorite romance authors didn’t feel they needed to write women’s fiction... just sayin

My first experience with kindle in motion. Not a fan. Waiting for this character to get a good healthy dose of karma. Big risk to make your main POV character unlikeable. We’ll see how it plays out

This one's gonna take a while. I SHOULD be loving this, but somehow I'm not. Cailean doesn't like groupies, but he likes whores. He doesn't appreciate a woman pressing against him but he likes seeing someone in a diaphanous gown. Near as I can tell, it's all about their nationality, so maybe its the state of the world right now that is coloring my dislike of his bias, but there's something not clicking for me.
