The song "Ricki Don't Lose That Number" comes to mind, because I truly have been "one poor correspondent." I just went through my book list and got caught up on all those ratings that I meant to leave a long time ago. New item for my summer to-do list: post some overdue reviews (hangs head in shame). ;)

I don't get to Goodreads nearly as often as I'd like, but I'm always happy when I land here. Being in a place filled with readers and writers is the most peaceful feeling. I was brought to tears by a reader. This man, a genuine cowboy and retired Highway Patrolman, tracked me down to tell me that the only book he had ever read was SMOKEY the COWHORSE (Will James, 1926). He then told me that he sat up through the night reading Maggie’s Fall, and that he wanted to find me and tell me how much he enjoyed it. My gratitude drowned out my words. I think I said “thank you” about 50 times.

I'll never be finished with Jeff's book, just like I'll never be finished with the dictionary. Great reference for indie authors!

I thought using a version of my name (R. Lynn Wilson) would help me compartmentalize my writing/promoting, but it was too much of a burden. So, hi! My name is Ricki. Nice to meet you!

I am inspired by the magic of words, allusions that sweep us up in memory, similes and metaphors that paint backdrops and panoramas, words that twinkle and boom and shush through summer grasses. #amwriting
