How am I still invested in this book when I don’t feel like anything is happening here

I wonder why each chapter starts with a line or two summary of the chapter before

I googled and he is who I think he is and now all I want is for him to know how to manipulate water. But I am willing to see the alternative solution to it given how strong this little girl is, I am scared for her life.

I think that prisoner is the second son of the king and the girlfriend is her sister. Does that mean both the brothers like her? Please let this not be a triangle between them!

I also thought she was the lost queen but that was wrong. Does this blind lady actually have powers? I am too close to googling their names but I should not spoil it for myself.

5 seconds into the book and I already love it

Almost halfway in and I still dunno what’s happening or why am I still reading this

The book is making me wanna read the series all over again.

Idk how I completely forgot that I have read this book before. Throughout each story I was guessing I know what’s gonna happen because I have read the other books. Sometimes forgetfulness is a gift!

“I’m sorry,” Ella says softly, curling back into her bed. “You have the wrong girl.”

Laila calling him Majnu? Okay okay. The situationship between them is so Kaz-Inej coded. Plus their appearances and position in the team. So far I like it. It’s not as boring of a read as Six of Crows but it’s so similar in structure that I have my doubts.

So far I can’t take any character seriously because they are all teenagers. It’s time I stop reading kids books but they are so much more fun 😭

What in the Kaz Brekker universe is this!

I can’t conjure up anything to say about this book. I am reading this when the situations he describes is very much alive and ongoing makes it much more difficult to digest as a human.

The way this book is written makes me think not just about the inhumanity that’s happening in Palestine but of every marginalized community, every social discrimination and the people who lived through it all without able to even ask for help. This is a beautiful book and I am ashamed to say as such in the face of its content.
