This Librivox full cast audioproduction is quite good.
I also like the characters of the book, they are well developed and up to a lot of interesting things.
In spite of that, I find most of the content a moralizing, preachy yawnfest. 14 chapters into this 48 chapter long book,I think I've had my share. DNFing it,but I am looking forward to seing a couple of movie adaptions down the line😊

DNF about 50% through. This was a collection og three novellas, and not a novel as I first thought. And while adorably silly and cute, it completely lost my attention once part one was over.

Oh, how I love being back in Elfhame. These books are like a golden box of slightly poisoned, decadent ,rich chocolate.

The characters are still likeable, and there are some fun details here and there, but otherwise this has been a yawnfest so far. The things that made me like Carry On so much are simply not present here. I'm thinking this book might be as useless as a british spell in the USA.

While I find the prose sharp and brilliant and her attention to detail interesting,I'm having a bit of trouble getting into this one. I think there are at leasy three main stories, and a zillion anekdotes. Not really connecting with the MC yet, and while I'm loving parts of it, others I just find pretentious. Kind of on the fence here...

I am about half way through the autiobook, and I am baffled at how a book and series with this huge huge amount of potential can be this bland . The writing, the characters, everything is so surface level, without nuance and simply uninteresting. I know it is a Middlegrade book, and that I am not the target audience. But there is plenty of middlegrade out there that has so much more to it than this. Will probably DNF

Plot and setting seems interesting enough, but DNFing the audiobook now at 15%. The writing style isn't quite capturing my attention, and I can't stand the male narrator, sounds like he is preforming this as a spoken word/ slam poetry thing, and I am so not here for that.
