Very readable, in my head I can hear Mary Beard narrating it. Really easy to follow, right up to date in what we think about how Rome started and developed into a republic and then an empire. Loving it.

Pretty easy read, lots of well captioned pictures, and a good basic introduction to the Norse people. Better than a kids picture book, but not as hard work as an academic treatise!

It's really thought provoking, which makes it a long read despite its slimness as a volume.
