important to add to my notes - trigger warning about sexual assault, that does get graphic and other forms of sexual assault are referred to throughout the book

really inspiring, heart warming story about feminism, being true to yourself and the realities of being a woman in the 1950's. shows how one person's actions, and one person questioning the status quo can cause massive ripples. sad at times, funny, happy but very uplifting.

Flew through this book, v easy to read (even though it’s chunky). Felt a little too similar to hunger games but stil, enjoyable and had differences (powers & princes / normal girl contrasts). Overall v enjoyable and defo gonna read the next one. At least 4.5 maybe 4.7 or something.

Just felt like it was v busy at times with lots of characters and names.

Grippy and easy to read but also just a bit flat. 3.5 stars ?? Maybe??

Quite gripping throughout, actually easier to read bc less smut as Cas was locked up for half the book lmao. Waaay too long, idk it could defo have been shorter. Also the ending was so whack and felt kinda rushed.... all these pages for an ending that didn’t even ‘end’ anything really. Maybe 3.5, it was enjoyable just meh at the end and I cba for another long ass book

Twisty, gripping, dark and really engaging. Told through 2 perspectives, past perspectives following the characters and excerpts from a Netflix documentary made after the events. Well written and even when the twists are over, there was still more. really really good book.

Cute story about the different people we see on our commute and what could happen if the barrier was broken. Light hearted and really highlights how everyone has their own story and difficulties. Overall very sweet. Felt quite simple and there weren't any dramatic ups or downs, but still a level of drama and intrigue with each character's story.

Very easy to read, short chapters, gripping story. Intense but also very real. Not sure how to process the ending, left a lot of questions and part of me guesses that’s the point and it’s a perfect ending but also left wanting more (maybe also the point).

Gonna take a lot of processing to work out rating. Definite four stars, probably five when I think about how the ending made me feel.

So far both a heavy read but also light and easy to read. A mix of detective/ murder mystery whilst highlighting racism in America and how deeply it is engrained (set in 2013 in a town in Mississippi). Covers a lot of tough topics, both current and historical, whilst keeping the mystery of the ‘case’ alive as well.

It was okay. Tied up neatly with little hints that you could have got before. Not the biggest fan of the pop culture references or writing style unfortunately. Did have good moments though.

It’s okay but nothing amazing. Told from 2 perspectives, 1 year ago and now and doesn’t waffle too much. Writing is just a bit cringe and feels like it’s trying too hard to be ‘relatable’, and the characters seem to just miss the obvious quite a bit

biiiig book with both loads happening and also not that much. You learn more about poppy and what she is but apart from that the plot is fairly minimal. Things go a bit crazy at the end and the ending is kinda out of the blue, cliffhanger but not really needed tbh. Cas and Poppy are a bit icky but the rest of the characters are still fun. Still a good-ish read but not as much as the previous ones.

Very wholesome & cute independent mini stories. Would have liked a bit more of a connection between the stories, as they felt a bit too independent & left me wanting to know more. Overall enjoyable and a nice little read.

Still a bit cringe but waay better than the first one. Loong book but didn't drag or feel slow, was quite detailed. Enjoying the universe and characters. Few fun lil additions/ twists that I didn't necessarily expect. Quite predictable but not in a way that makes it bad or takes from the enjoyment.
Between a 4 and 4.5 for sure.

Quite an easy read, nothing very complicated or thrilling with the plot. But still a nice story about love and how maybe the perfect person doesn’t exist. Or if they do they might only be perfect because of the circumstances. Idk. Enjoyed it but not gripping.

Very easy read and quite captivating. Cringey at times, but it is young adult/teen so not unexpected. Fast pace, and for once I actually enjoyed the chapters switching between characters as it felt like I was getting more of an understanding of the story. Left a bit open at the end.

Quite slow to get into it. Good plot and easy to follow different characters perspectives. Had to rush to finish before it was returned, so wasn’t ever really gripped by it.
Nice twists and didn’t expect all of them.

Enjoyable, fast paced and a good read. Predicted the twists which was annoying.

Really, really enjoyed this. Follows three different perspectives, but isn’t messy and easy to follow which perspective each part is. Slow start but not in a boring way, in a way that truly helps you feel connected & understand the characters.
Really enjoyed the writing style, it was really fun to read and I found myself rooting for all of the characters.
Sobbed like a baby at the final Marcellus & Tova parts.

It was a nice little read, but overall I found the perspective changes a bit jarring and didn't find it overly captivating (the story was good, just a bit too slow and not thriller enough for me).

Quite nice and twisty, but finding the perspective shifts between characters quite random and jolty. Makes it hard to follow along at times.

Really liked the characters and the plot, well written and quite twisty and turny. Liked the twist at the end but felt it didn’t hit as much as I would’ve hoped.

Well written so far, and easy to follow - even when using some legal terms and clear insider knowledge. Slow burner, in terms of getting the reader interested. Really like the main character so far and the complexities with his father representing similar qualities to the accused.

Cute and cosy but a bit too simple story wise for me.. the characters were a bit annoying (just insanely poor communication) and the smut was just insanely bad and cringey

Very cliche and lots of cosy elements. I could see other people liking it. Just not thinking the whole instant love thing is for me, even more when it’s ‘instalove’ but they both are annoying and bad at communicating so nothing happens. Not written the best, lots of repetition.

My heart says 3.5 but I know it’s just a 3. Fun and silly with pop culture references (Buffy & T Swift) that would be annoying if not for buffy being a current obsession.
Enjoyed it, but the more I think about it the more flat the characters feel. Cassie likes art and Frederick is hot and I can’t really think of anything else.
Random kidnapping plot right at the end that solved itself in about three seconds

Enjoyable, fun and quite silly. Bit badly written at some points.
