“Wandering Devil” by Caldwell Turnbull successfully discusses the inner turmoil of breaking unhealthy generational trauma/ties -in Freddy’s case, he battles the desire to leave everything he loves behind, as it’s easier than staying and settling down. A little more boring of the three short stories I’ve read so far, but I enjoyed the underlying meaning despite the redundancy.

“Eye and Tooth” by Rebecca Roanhorse is definitely the kind of horror I enjoy to read regularly. It was extremely well written and suspenseful to the extent that I almost wish we were offered this story in more of a novel format, rather than a feature in a short story anthology. These stories are feeling as though they were meant to have longer adaptations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Reckless Eyeballing,” written by author, N.K. Jemisin, was a 20 page short story about, Carl: a black cop who pulls people over if he sees eyes in their headlights. I feel this story was a well written commentary regarding the disapproving consensus of black people “backing the blue.” Carl’s torture of his victims illustrates joining the problem makes you just as bad as the problem itself.
