This book is cute an entertaining so far. I like that the hero and heroine are relatable--the hero a businessman struggling with dyslexia and the heroine a physical therapist with a demanding father and submissive mother who struggles with self esteem issues following a bad breakup. Avery and Gray have a brief connection shortly before Avery's brother, driving drunk, hits Gray with his car.

I find little to praise. I especially resent that the author ignores everything that she quoted J.K. Rowling as saying during the biography at the beginning. The author repeatedly excludes about two-thirds of Rowling's readership by assuming that the books draw only the interest of children, even though Rowling said she wrote the HP series because it would entertain HER.

So far I'm not impressed. Just because a book explores a work of young adult fiction doesn't mean that the author should write as if she is a young adult posing an essay for English class.

So far I'm loving this book. The author read the first story in this book at a reading of hers I attended. It's even better than I remember it. Love her writing.

So far I'm conflicted. I've read this author before and since this is one of his most popular books, I had high hopes for it. In the first two chapters, I've noticed some of what makes his writing so great — emotional moments like only he can write. But other parts — like when he's in five different characters' heads within one paragraph — make me worry about the rest of the book. Guess I'll just have to see...

I'm getting there. It's taken awhile, but the book is actually very readable and interesting. I'm not bored at all, just busy with life.
