Another short story about divorce; where a gal moves into an apartment and shares with a goofy temporary roommate. We must recover from the shock of divorce, why not do it in a whacky apartment share arrangement?

I've gotten through Consciousness I and II, and am getting ready for the highlight....where Consiousness III, people come to our rescue. After 45 years, this book is an interesting "look back" on the 70's, The author would be shocked at what today in America has become; oops another mass shooting has just occurred in California. I think these are the "Consciousness IV" guys.

First short story....a 15 yr old teen, going through his rebellious years, impregnates an 18 yr old "slow" gal.....and his mom finds out that he's a kid, she didn't understand, either while he was growing up, or now that he has become a father....

Tick tock....is the watchword. Makes me speed read it. This is the first time I'm "skip reading" a novel, where I read maybe the title sentence of each paragraph. I'm interested in early Dean Koontz works.....as I recetly finished "Innocence" a later work....and wanted to see how he has evolved in his writing. Lots of surprises....but one thing stands out, Koontz is a master of the descriptive narratve.

"The only demand I make of my reader is that he should devote his whole life to reading my works." James Joyce....quote from the James Joyce audio collection. I've been listening to the author read Ulysses....helps establish an atmosphere for this story.

Kerstin Lampert is reading We Were the Mulvaneys
The Mulvaneys of High Point Farm in Mount Ephraim, New York, are a large, fortunate clan, blessed with looks, charisma, and promise I'm going to associate with the Lamperts and High Point Farm in Mundelein, Illinois.
