Too many human characters are indistinguishable, which I find mildly frustrating, but which Murderbot would find natural, I'm sure. The Netflix series wisely eliminated two of the crew.

I've mapped it out. Roughly 40% of the story is unreachable. Ok strap on folks, we goin' meta!

Fourteen dead ends (literally) in, and Holy Frak, y'all. I've just exhausted the decision tree, and maybe half the pages remain unread. I've just had a Wasteland paragraphs book flashback, and I'm beside myself!! This graphic novel was written Just. For. Me.

Twelfth bad ending, but finally getting a sense of what's going on. This is amazing. "Exploring a probability space" indeed!

Following along with the podcast serialization... So far a nice interweaving of timelines, a plucky princess, and your standard three quests, in medias res.

There is very little here supporting a hopeful ending, given the frequent foreshadowing of a stale future. I'm wondering what is Harpman's point?

Two more. This is brilliant. Each ending, we learn something more of the overarching plot. This gives the illusion of a roguelite game, with some nebulous saved state between runs.

Finally, something new. But eww.

Kind of a cross between Wool, 1984, and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, only more boring.

Started the Netflix series and it's good! (So far.) Meanwhile Salvo and Favalli make themselves indispensable in the military remnant as the alien minions whittle them down at the stadium. And the frame story (lacking in the Netflix series) returns for a frame or two.

Interesting frame setup so far. "Is there a satisfaction in the effort of remembering that provides its own nourishment, and is what one recollects less important than the act of remembering?"

It's refreshing that the appearance of the baddies is delayed, and then when it finally happens it's only their minions.

And here's where AT plows new ground in this subgenre: "It was the robots. But not in the way that you think."
