Katherine is on page 275 of 455 of The World of Yesterday
Lucky to have found this. Zweig is writing in a time of rapid changes, trying to make sense of a highly civilized world’s descent into war.

Katherine is on page 54 of 302 of In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex
If you are a fan of Moby Dick or the Aubrey/Maturin novels by Patrick O'Brien, this is your next great read. It's the story behind Melville's Moby Dick, but so much will be familiar from the voyages of Captain Aubrey. You may wonder if they share some of the same sources.

Katherine is starting Dostoevsky: A Writer in His Time
Good background reading while reading Dostoevsky's novels and short stories. The summaries of the books are good as reminders of plot points and themes, but are conventional. Nothing groundbreaking here.

Mind blowing-ly beautiful prose. Breathtaking. Definitely violent. Struggling between doing nothing other than reading this until I finish it, and wanting to drag the experience out all summer.
