Love this writer ! Such a complex weird relationship - and the claustrophobia is well drawn of a cabin in a snowstorm

What a charming , funny and quirky read - such a wonderful female protagonist who loves her sister and her babies and the natural world with such devotion and whose musings are endlessly smile creating . Before she meets her Philip , she is in a dutiful marriage : “so that she would be able to give him all her stray , inconsequential thoughts , to sift and appreciate and arrange tidily.”

Very good writing but such a large tome. Driving narrative around finding out why the man Jude is so damaged , having been raised in a catholic boys home ? Following story of 4 close friends . Testing my stamina ….

Cate has a very eccentric and hilarious vocabulary and a very fresh and frank perspective . I loved her but on parenthood and how it messes you up entirely!!! And her best advice so far to younger women if they want to keep their career “ Don’t marry a Cunt” . She nails it !! A must read for women of any age .
