Idk man. War sucks. Young men fight in wars when they are practically children. At no point in the novel so far has the main character discussed WHY they are at war. And, to me, the WHY is important. Makes me wonder how many people fighting any given war know what they’re doing. People in power giving orders, and people without power following them. I’m curious to watch their circumstances deteriorate more.

Not for me yet I can’t bring myself to DNF.

I’ve had this on my TBR shelf for a while so thought it was time to read. Idk, could be good but I’m still not in a romance genre mood.

Okay, I’ve cried three times. The author has done such a good job painting the political scene AND making us care about individual characters.

Love the friendship at the heart of this… low key terrified to see how everything plays out though.

Okay, this book is adorable. Not much happens but I actually like the characters and the 90s vibe.

I’m pleasantly surprised. So far excited to read the next book.

Idk… I love Ali Hazelwood’s humor and stories. But if I’m being honest, fantasy might not be my fav of hers. One word: Heat… 😵‍💫 I put the book down for a few days because the smut is barely readable.

Has much happened? No. Kind of don’t care about clothing brands either. Wish the main character had some more depth.

Okay, some stuff could have been skipped… like the overly descriptive scenes of child abuse. But overall I’m enjoying the flowery writing, the setting, and - of course - the literary melodrama.

Okay, this book took about a quarter of its pages to hit the “inciting incident.” Felt a little slow and then the two main characters met (again, after 15 years) — instant angst. And I looove me some angst. Now I’m hooked.

Okay, I still like the raw angst and messiness of Every Summer After, but this book is a major improvement over her books 2 & 3.

Holy shit. This is good.
