I am not sure I will finish this book. I am uncomfortable with the relationship between the main character and her son. This idea of the teenage girl corrupting the “pure” and innocent teen boy, simply by coming into his life is a ludicrous stereotype. Lines like: “ She is sleeping with our son.” are all too common.

I was unsure of what to expect from this book, but I am so glad my curiosity won out. It’s a fascinating history, and from a perspective I have yet to look at these events from. It’s a compelling read as well, not tedious; and the author is very diplomatic, without being dismissive.

One of the best books I almost never read. I particularly appreciate James Comey’s meditations on leadership.

A fun, nostalgic read / listen for a slow Sunday afternoon. I do wish there had been more suspense. However, listening to the audiobook was very enjoyable; reminiscent of the Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Episodes that I enjoyed as a child.

Captivating! Why have I waited so long to read this?! An early contender for ‘best book I’ve read this year’.

I’m quite happy to have stumbled upon this little story. Though I have loved everything Tolkien since childhood, I’ve always found the shorter works to be the most beautiful. Tolkien’s known for his great sagas, and complex worlds that have their own languages. His impeccable craftsmanship of the short story, necessitating a lighter touch, is so often overlooked.

Always a fun read; the more familiar it becomes, the more I enjoy it!
