Such stunning poetry. I can only read a couple at a time because they are so raw, so beautifully written, and frequently devastating. Why are IG poets selling millions and I had never heard of this woman? I’m thankful that I have now.

Actually came and read reviews to see if I should keep going. It is so slow so far and I really dislike books where you are kept in the dark about characters‘ entire backstories. Also, the main male character and female character (who don’t really know each other) are written like the exact same generic protagonist.

For a book about a serial killer there is a definite lack of serial killing. Nearly half through and it’s been nothing but endlessly flowery language trying way too hard to be deep and flashbacks to college roommates.

Really struggling to keep reading this book. Nothing ever happens other than flowery language about Ellianne that tries too hard to be deep and poetic.

This book goes on forever. How can I only be halfway through it and nothing ever seems to happen? If it weren’t for all the good reviews I would DNF it. These people are dull and sad, and they are taking up hours of my life.

Requested this because it’s based in Bangor, Maine and I lived there as a child but so far it’s not doing anything for me. The characters are not memorable and I hate the way the cops are all referred to by their last names. I can’t keep them straight and can’t even remember which is the female main character half the time. And so far you couldn’t tell it was based in Bangor versus any other location.

“ I have endeavored to write this book with the utmost appreciation and respect for the hobby communities that I came up in. Although I am largely critical of the white masculine culture that these communities have incubated, this criticism comes from a place of love, understanding, and care… At the very least, I hope this book helps some other goofy kid feel more welcome in the hobby networks of tomorrow.”

Giving up on voting in the Goodreads choice awards because the ones I’ve read are always books I disliked and my favorites are never options. I wish I could just downvote the lamest (but always well hyped) ones.

Alicia Bayer is starting One Year to an Organized Life: A Week-by-Week Mindful Guide to Getting Organized for Good
What a strangely organized book. The first weeks I just blasted through because it's like "spend 17 minutes this week thinking about these things" and then at like 9 weeks you're supposed to spend 7 hours reorganizing your kitchen. I haven't read any further because I'm so overwhelmed at the idea of this.

I am really slogging through this book. It feels like reading a really long term paper or a 300 page article in the New Yorker.

Such an interesting book, and not just smut. The chapter on Hamilton (no, he wasn't a president, but his sex life was a big factor in why) made me cry at the end because of its focus on his wife, Eliza and her ongoing love for him. This is a very fun read and I'm also learning history that isn't usually in school books.

I'm absolutely loving this traditional Ukrainian cookbook. It is so steeped in history and interesting information, and I love all of the fermented recipes. A new favorite.

Not really enjoying this one and making myself read it since I requested it to review. Once again I seem to be harder to please than the average Net Galley reader. 🙂 I keep mixing up the women and I am not at all engaged in this story.

Oh my. I'm going to need both hands to review this one. :)

(A hand injury makes me temporarily unable to type with my right hand so my reviews will be shorter than usual for a bit. Review copy via net galley).

"As babies of World War II or the Great Depression, our mothers and grandmothers had less power to determine their own lives. Their worlds weren't just beset by economic downturns. They dealt with the effects of assassinations and wars. There may just be something about the way we live now that makes things feel worse."

OMG, this self centered twit! How does she know she feels worse than other women did?
