One of my new year's goals is to finally read this series in its entirety.

I like Star Wars back stories. They are always good at introducing you to characters who weren't developed in the movies and explaining things the movies never get to. There is so much speculation about who certain characters are and this book answers many of those questions. It also gives you good time references. Like the novel begins before Episode III and 11 years after Episode I.

Pinhead is one of my favorite characters from the horror genre. Argue what is the greatest horror film series all you want, the answer is the Hellraiser series. This delves deeper into this universe.

Didn't do near as much reading as I wanted to do this year (recreationally anyway) so I am hoping the Star Wars books I got for Christmas will help me get back into the habit.

I have no trouble believing at least some of what is in this book. I can believe that the Obamas and the Clintons really don't like each other -- even hate each other. The only issue with it is it relies heavily on anonymous sources, which means that its credibility can be called into question whether it is true or not.

Reading a section on the role herd mentality and social pressure can play in why people give to charity makes me think of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

"Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is." - Yoda Not a quote used in the book, but I found myself thinking of this particular scene from Attack of the Clones because it is such a good example of how in order to solve problems we sometimes need to think like a child. Children are not hindered by preconceived notions and are willing to explore different explanations for how things work.

I have become a big fan of Caitlin Kiernan and the story of Dancy Flammarion. Her work paints a vivid, gothic picture of a young girl who is instructed by an angel to kill monsters in the Deep South. It is dark and poetic even.

Maybe I just need to fly more because I find I don't have much time to read books for leisure unless I am traveling.

I want to re-read it before the series comes out on FX. I enjoy Guillermo del Toro's story telling and it is a much better take on vampires than what one typically gets with modern lore (what I call the castration of a mythology).

I go off to do something else, but I find I have to return to read more.
