I just completed part 1 of the book, and I must say that I loved it. Anyone who is a Christian today and wants to better grasp how to handle living their life in submission to Christ, while dealing with our corrupt post–modern society, should read it. Lutzer accurately hits his mark over and over again when describing the problem with today's concepts of morality and "Progressive Christianity."

This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. Dr. Lutzer describes perfectly what has caused the inasnity of secularism with the three grave diggers at "God's funeral." They are Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, and Sigmond Freud; with Frederick Niche as their Eulogist.
They best thing he does as, an author, is give a response for us Christians to do after each chapter.

This book hits the nail on the head. With dead aim on the cultural cancer growing deep within the West. Honestly, this book is highlighting these problems so well I'm getting genuinely frustrated just reading about it. But I know Lutzer is going to have a solution (≈I hope)

Wow. This is already incredible. Lutzer lines up the target of today's cultural problems within his cross hairs, quickly and effectively. I can't wait to see how he tackles the problem and give applicable advise.

I finished the 1st chapter within 2 days of starting. For me, that's impressive, especially considering that it's a textbook lol.
I reallllly loved the historical introduction to the Greek language and ancestral languages. The historical context to place Koine Greek was so impactful for me.

So far so good. The 1st chapter is discussing the history of the Greek language and textual criticism.

I have wanted to read this book for about a year, it finally went on 50% sale for Easter. Already, I can say that this body of literature is extensive but well executed. Genuinely a page turner.

This has been a fantastic overview of Christianity since the Protestant Reformation. I am currently in the last couple chapters [4 remaining], and I am excited to see how the book wraps up the history with the present day. If anyone wants to learn more about Church History with great insights and not too much info this is the book for you.

My page counter is broken for this book on Kindle so I don't know really how much I have read, but I am 2 pages from part 2.
So far the first 60 pages were a cultural backdrop for the setting of the author for the book. The next about 200 pages are Maimonides explaining ever word in the Hebrew Bible that could used to assume God's Corporality.
Honestly, I find this book boring but trying to power through it

Moses Maimonides wrote the original letter to a student in Aramaic. This translation has a historical preface and even comprehensional preface to the letters main points. The letter itself doesn't start until page 60, so I just started the literal writing from Maimon. So far so good. Interested to see if his Philosophy and Theology is up to snuff

Greek is really hard at first, then once you think you got it... the second wave of confusion emerges. Seriously though, I love learning how to read Greek, but it is very hard. The hardest part for me is honestly the time it takes to find the proper gloss and case that the word is in. English doesn't prepare you for concepts like genitive, dative, accusitive, and nomitive cases

This textbook has two parts: part 1 is History, part 2 is theology and practice. I just now got to part 2. It's super dense but very interesting. I learned a lot in part one about the Bible that I had never heard before.

Greek is hard, but slowly I'm kinda getting how to translate it. I don't think I'll be a master by the end of this class, but maybe I will have some basic comprehension skills

This has to be one of the most fascinating books I have ever read about history. It is 100% Non-fiction academic history textbook, but yet the author does a good job of keeping the chapter short and to the point. Using dates and images/maps to help the reader really get the material. The only thing that I don't really understand is the last section of each chapter dictated as 'sources', they never really seem to help

Before starting this I have been using Duolingo for over a month to learn Hebrew and that has been very fun. This book though on how to read/interpret Biblical NT Greek is tough. Obviously there are no sounds and that makes it hard. But my main issue with this author is that he CONSTANTLY uses words that clearly only people in the field of translation use. Even my wife who has a brilliant vocabulary didn't know them

I have Chs 1-4 and I really love this book. I am taking a class at Athens with the same name as the book. It has already taught me answers to really indepth questions about the originality of the Abrahamic faith compared to the Ancient Near Eastern religions. Like the book says "Judaism wasn't born in a vacuum. However, he comes to conclusions I don't. For ex that ancient Israelites stole from surrounding cultures.

I have delt with this question of how free will works since God is sovereign, for many years. So far the author gave a great description in the first chapter about definitions, methodology, and purpose for this book. He believes firmly that Divine Sovereignty and Libertarian Human Free Will work hand even though appear to be diametrically opposed. My suggestion would be take bite sized pieces, cause this is deep

So far the book has kept me on the edge of my seat. I have only miss 1 day of reading this book for a month now and I am shocked at my own progress. My favorite character has to be Kaladin but Shin is a close second. I hope that Shallan, Kaladin and Shin make a team or something. I think that would be really cool
