I'm listening to the audio book to decide whether it will be our class novel for the end of year. I think it will work for our students though I think the villain is a little two dimensional for middle grade.

When I read the premise of this book I thought it sounded great, and now that I'm reading it I don't think I love the premise. If you are an unsatisfied woman in middle age, yes possibly moving to be closer to community is a good way to grow. But to immediately leave THAT community for the open road with an adventurer? Not loving it. It's not exactly being painted as a GOOD idea, so I'll wait and see.

Ok it's actually driving me a little crazy when the MC isn't noticing a very obvious connection between the object she found and the myths she's learning about. It's not subtle, it's obvious! At least have her inner dialog WONDER about the obvious thing.

Borrowed because it seemed like a fun cruise read, but I may be over the genre of books where the conflict is based on the heroine lying to herself and others constantly.
