A book that has come along at just the right moment. He is talking about the red flags of “mindlessness” and that has been a helpful switch for me. We talk so much about being mindful but thinking about how “mindlessness” shows up in my day has been super clarifying.

I read a couple of chapters a few days ago and then picked it up this morning and can’t put it down. I’d read it in one sitting if I didn’t have somewhere to be this afternoon.

So cool reading about the history of NW Ohio as a global birding spot during migration and grateful I was able to visit Magee Marsh this May to experience the migration. It’s just right down the road from Cleveland if any NE Ohio people are interested in a visit!

I am glad I didn’t give up on this one early. It is A LOT about motherhood, especially those first few months, but it’s also so much more about colonization, internalized oppression, and trusting your own inner voice.

I’m listening to this because it was long listed for the Women’s Prize for Fiction. I’m enjoying it so far, though it’s not something I’d normally pick up (which is why I try to read from the Women’s Prize). A coming of age story about grief and family all centered around the game of squash. Definitely unique.

I’ve set this book down for a few weeks, but as soon as I picked it up again this morning I was hooked. A sign of a good book!
