Yaa Gyasi is brilliant, and this book is found everything for me right now.

Definitely coming on strong with a point to prove and reads like a persuasive essay trying hard to prove a point and catastrophize a little bit, but I am learning some interesting things about addition counseling and neuroscience.

Loving it so much so far

Really enjoying the format, loving the multiple narrators, learning a ton about Arabic culture

It is so utterly devastating that I can barely go on, but feel I should probably finish at this point, especially due to its roots in true historical events. So hard to read though, just tragedy after tragedy.

Such a fast-moving plot with so much mystery and drama- very compelling! Fun to listen to with my husband on long drives

I can’t believe how much I’ve read and how much there is left! The pacing is a bit slow for me and I’m finishing not so much out of enjoyment, but as wanting to see the outcome.

Tried the audiobook and couldn’t get into it- moved to reading it- and am enthralled. Reminds me of everything I love about literature. Thoroughly enjoying as a bedtime read.
