This was reminding me so much of Women Talking. Im glad something is finally happening.

I've gotta say part 1 of this really dragged for me for the first time. I'm hoping it makes the rest pay off.

"I think it's easy to imagine there are easier paths. But maybe there are no easy paths. There are just paths."

This is an interesting concept, and I'm really intrigued by it despite sort of seeing where the theme is going early on. But it's incredibly difficult to read right now. There's a strong argument that I'm in bed due to a misdiagnosis and poorly performed procedure. Or maybe I trusted the wrong doctor, didn't investigate the diagnosis, or see the right specialist for it. The theme is hard to swallow 39 and bed bound.

This is cute and an interesting premise but I feel like I've read entirely filler so far

"It’s shocking to wake up in one world and find yourself in another by nightfall, but the situation isn’t actually all that unusual. You wake up married, then your spouse dies over the course of the day. You wake up in peacetime and by noon your country is at war; you wake up in ignorance and by the evening it’s clear that a pandemic is already here."

"And then they all met up at their favorite restaurant. Bit of a horror movie in retrospect. Imagine invisible pathogens in the air, drifting from table to table, swirling in the wake of passing servers." - I really appreciate the way she describes and approaches the pandemic, a bit of a different feeling than Station Eleven because it feels like it reflects our shared lived experience. How humanity faces it.

The station eleven author self insert feels a little on the nose. And in fact this is the closest book of Mandel's to Station Eleven so far, which may be making me feel like the magic can't be recaptured.

Oh good it picked up. I can't decide if it's just time hopping station eleven yet. But at least she's got me listening again.

Right now I'm bored. I hope I don't stay bored.

This is getting brutal

It's finally finding some footing

She's so funny. The beginning reads almost like a funnier Jenny Lawson which took me off guard as that isn't how I would generally describe Katherine Ryan. Why isn't this audiobook available in the states?

Thankful for Chris reading to me this weekend, though I do wish this book wasn't suffering from so much YA second book syndrome.

Is this ending actually insanely drawn out, or is it just that I have a hard time focusing?
