Holy shirt-balls is this audiobook grating! How in the Mother F***ing world is Eva's accent suddenly from New Jersey. DO NOT LISTEN.

What a disappointment.

This audiobook is particularity bad. The narrator can't do male voices or non-British accents.

I already hate Ruth, and I think I'm not supposed to yet (or at all).

The plague is such an interesting deviation from the original Cinderella story -I have no idea where it's going!
The fact that Cinder was taken as a "volunteer"... This books is taking unexpected turns that I'm really enjoying!

Learning about the pre-crossing is so weird! It’s our dark dystopian future (with cars and modern medicine) but for Kelsea it’s like backwards -she lives in the dark ages! Makes this feel more Sci-Fi all of a sudden.

I can't listen to this audiobook without my hardcopy nearby... I keep running to mark the book -to flag beautiful phrases and ideas I want to come back to later.

And speaking of super hot & cold, what was with the whole island swimming scene? It was super weird for Daniel to pull Luce aside and go swimming with her if he wants to avoid her... A little weird, but OK...

Arriane is super hot and cold with Luce, which reads really weirdly. Does she want to be Luce's friend, or what?

Slow start, but gripping.

So far, so typical.
I chose to read this book, so I shouldn't be disappointed with how "typical" (predictable?)l it is... But I am.
I mean, of course the main character is literary and snarky, and of course her English partner is super good looking and surly, and literary too. *rolls eyes*
It's cute so far, I'm just a little tired with how much of a Mary Sue Jessie is.

Not the best sign when your book starts out with a quote by Goebbels...

So far, so lame. Suffering from 2nd book syndrome (nothing is happening, but talk), but I won’t hold it against it.

Right now, Evan is my favorite character. Cassie is a little too angry, and Ben seems to bring out the worst in her.

Also, so much cursing. So FYI, if you’re sensitive to that.

So far a lot of repetition from Ringer's POV to Cassie's.

I feel like I'm missing something here. All reviews for this book are a enthusiastic 4 or 5 stars, but so far I'm a little bored. 88 pages in and Lia doesn't stand out in any way & I've just been introduced to both male characters...
I usually give a book till page 100 before I call it quits. We'll see what happens in the next 12 pages.

Stayed up all night reading this! Really digging it!

A tiny issue with the throwaway line about Jews holding hands while praying... We don't hold hands or touch while praying.

We do pray together in a congregation, sometimes standing, sometimes sitting, facing the direction of Jerusalem where our holy Temple once stood.

It's not an offensive line, I just wish writers would do some research first, since they've probably never met an observant or praying Jew before.

I'm interested...but the more I learn about Akiva the more upset I am with the Angel lore. I don't like the "borrowing" of Jewish/Hebrew names and (so far) completely pooping on the theology.

Eugenia keeps going with the naughty double entendres (and frank sex talk), and then acts all shocked when Ward participates. It's all very eye-rolly.
