87 pages in and the portrait has done its thing!! so far, a delightful book about people i would never want to meet.

I feel like this isn’t something people usually say about poetry collections (or at least I don’t) but I am so hype to read part two of this!!! I always love reading poetry, but I always find it calming; don’t usually have the “i cant wait to see where this goes next!” feeling yknow. Anyway!! can’t wait!!

started rereading this on the eighth during my tattoo. i wanted to read smth to occupy my mind but I didnt think id be able to focus on anythjng brand new. the tattoo appointment was very short (i always overestimate these things) soi wasnt planning to continue but then this morning i was craving an easy morning read so im picking it back up

Just finished the first part. About to start part two. Feeling a bit so-so on it thus far. Haymitch’s characterization/narrative voice isn’t quite working for me. Snow’s characterization and the action’s also don’t make much sense to me. Snow (to me) feels less in control, less calculated and manipulative then has has in any of the other books, including Ballad. We’ll see how it develops!

listen. i know this book probably isnt going to be very good. or literary. booktok is an interesting place. …imma read it anyway

I’ve realized that the Chronicles of Narnia have a chronological order & publication order. I have decided to read them in what I will call the melissa order. First, read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe in fifth grade. THEN, decide you want to read the whole series. Read The Magicians Nephew, & discover that it was actually published Last. read the rest of the series in publication order 😂

I’m almost done! I think I will up my goal by however many Narnia books there are bc theyre pretty quick easy reads but I want to document them. Also this book is listed as #1 in the collection I have but #6 elsewhere. I guess its kind of a prequel bc its describes the creation of Narnia

Finished the third story! I think I’d give it a 3.75. It was very good, but not as good as “Secret Window, Secret Garden”

Finished the second story! Though “The Langoliers” (the first story) was the one I was most excited for, I think I actually like this one better. It was super well written. I suspected the plot twist, but not because it was predictable. I couldn’t tell if it would actually go one way or the other, and the suspense kept me reading. Loved it! I would give the first story three stars, and this one four.

Just finished the first short story: The Langoliers. Very good, very suspenseful, sucked me right in.

Reading this for my queer studies course! My professor says it’s one of his favorite books so I’m excited to keep reading. I love the prose so far!
