Listening to the audiobook for the first time. I'm still blown away by how beautiful the prose is.

I want to read this book, so don't get me wrong, it's just ...

The introduction states "The story is certainly as epic as Tolkien's, and the stakes are hardly less world-shattering."
Is it epic, with world-shattering stakes, though? I haven't seen a lot of evidence towards that so far, though I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I think the introduction is just being a bit overly effusive and oblivious.

I'm loving it already. The language sings!

Not the kind of protagonist I’d necessarily go for usually, but I’m enjoying it a lot. Love Mark Lawrence’s writing.

I’ve reached part 2 of 3 and whew! There are so many names (people AND places), I’m finding it difficult to keep track of them all. *multiple flips to the maps and cast*
But it’s so, so good so far. Sometimes you just like the writing so much you can forgive the deluge of information.
