Chengyu’s are neat. I think I understand Lily a little more. I don’t know if I like her. I hope she isn’t supposed to be loosely modeled after Kuang herself because..😬 it is taking me a bit longer to read than I’d like but it is rather dense and I can only be smart for so long before my brain short circuits and I get a headache

Lily reminds me of June from Yellowface. Not unlikeable but not really likeable.

So far very interesting. I think some readers might get bogged down with the “info dumping” but I find it all fascinating and think it is used to make a point. R.F Kuang makes me learn and then I feel smart.
