Theo is enjoying this book "very much". Win is his favourite character. He thinks Crowley is very scary 1/10.

I have had to take a break from this book because this plus real life America at the moment is too much. Virginia deserved the world. Society protected the wrong people yet again.

Virginia Giuffre deserved the world. Epstein, Maxwell, and anyone else involved in the abuse of these poor girls should never be free again.The depths of their depravity are unbelievable. From the current page:
"On one occasion, Epstein told me, Brunel sent him three french twelve-year-olds - I think they were triplets - for his birthday. Epstein had sex with them, then put them on a plain back to France"

The main character (a man who dies unexpectedly of a heart attack and has regrets) reminded me of my dad when I first read the book two or so years ago. Now he has suddenly died of a heart attack this book feels more poignant

I am trying to read this to Theo. We read the first chapter (1-4 January) this evening and learned about catkins and the hazel tree 🤓
