The first chapter was a bit long-winded, and the subject not as exciting as the others should be, but it is a non-fiction book after all. The writing style made the subject matter as interesting as it could be, blending history with first-hand storytelling.

I think this is my new favorite holiday comfort read. I have already cried a few times because I feel such a connection to the characters and their emotions. I don’t want to stop reading it, but I also don’t want it to end.
