Chapter 3 recap:
We were made for God, but sin caused a separation between us. Jesus tore that veil, and we can now bodly draw near the throne. However, sometimes, there is still a veil over our hearts - the veil of self- that keeps us experiencing the full presence of God. We must bring these selfishnesses to the cross and insist upon the transformative and sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit to work within us.

Changing the dialogue - "too often we say we are 'defeated' by this or that sin. No, we are not defeated; we are simply disobedient!"
We have a responsibility for our holiness- God has made it possible (thank you Jesus) and has made provisions (namely, the Holy Spirit) for us- but it's up to us to use them and use them to their fullest extent (right attitude/posture, time in the word, praying for holiness/revelation)

"Do we dare take that as our personal goal in life? Are we truly willing to scrutinize all our activities, all our goals and plans, and all of our impulsive actions in light of this statement: 'I am doing this to please God'?"

A few observations from Chapter 1
- shallow faith, hollow worship and worldly ways show that we scarcely know God
- don't get caught up in seeking God-and; seek God the person, not what he can do for you
- we must make effort to know God personally- spending time with Him, listening to His Words
- never be complacent with how much you know God at any given time since there is always more to discover
