This is anotheer entertaining police procedural tale though Heckley station is run a little different to other places, kindness and a sense of humour being more prevalent than some places. This novel is rather sad though, both from the point of the two featured cases - a rape and a murder and also from the point of view of Charlie's private life. It kind of emphasises the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished".

I liked the maiu character and would be happy to read more of her adventures.

Finished this recently as I listened to it on Audible and I quite liked the heroine and would be happy to read more of her adventures.

Listened to this on Audible. The perpetrator is truly crazy. What he did because he felt an author did not treat his main character as he should have done and what he the perp was prepared to do to acquire all the books was truly gruesome. I don't think I'll be in a hurry to become an author any time soon. It's too dangerous. I'm sure Salman Rushdie would
probably have some thoughts on this.

Read 11 chapters of this novel and decided to give up. I didn't like the main character at all and wasn't interested in what happened to him so its marked DNF now.

Unfortunately I just could not connect with this book. It didn't engage me at all so sadly after about 7 chapters I gave in and have to mark this one DNF.

Because it was set in France I thought this could be one of the books the tv series "Murder in Provence" was based on but no it is not a serious whodunit. It is more of a cosy mystery/comedy novel and actually reminded me of "'Allo, 'Allo" in places. I could certainly imagine it as a tv series and it was completely different to my previous spooky read.

Unfortunately I have to mark this as DNF. I managed 9 chapters but the book just wasn't holding my interest sufficiently for me to continue.

Been reading this off and on for a while. It's an interesting collection of tales but I think my favourite was the first one where none of the characters are really what they seem.

Finally read this which is the third in the series and the best one so far IMHO.

This is the magical tale of Shangri La, a well loved classic which I had heard about but never read. I enjoyed this tale from colonial times and especially the skilfully handled ending that kept the mystery alive.

Its not often I read a sexy romance novel but its good to have a change of genre from time to time and this was a novella so not long enough to get repetitive and boring. Also it did touch on some serious issues such as domestic violence and workplace sharks so it wasn't all hearts and flowers.

Listened to this on audible with my grandchildren and they didn't get bored!! I'll have to get some more books in this series as there is not much that keeps them still and quiet for long.

I'm giving up on this one and marking it DNF. I've enjoyed all the other novels by this author that I have read but not this one. I found it repetitive and a bit boring.

A not so cosy mystery with many characters with things to hide and the background was swamp, live oaks, spanish moss and a creepy atmosphere with snakes and alligators. I got the perp wrong again. I'm losing my touch.

Though I recognise most of the names in this book, there are one or two that I have not heard of so it is interesting to read about them and possibly view some of their movies if it is possible to download them.

This is the second time I've tried to get into this book but its still not grabbing me so I'm giving up.
