This is a hard read because, although the sisters are definitely heroines, it is hard knowing that this story could be real. My parents had a friend who was a child in the camps, was castrated, and lived to immigrate to the US. He was a wonderful man, much beloved by his wife. He was not able to talk about the experience because of how many awful memories it brought up.
