The writing style feels so detached. Maybe it’s the 3rd person POV.

Just over 30% in and I see what all the fuss is about.

Finally they meet!

Kane hates Let, and she’s scared of him. But yet, he just randomly shows up, threatens her with public sex, carries her off, then practically forces her down on him (where of course she’s amazing at it) and she’s instantly 💦 for him. There hasn’t been any previous encounters building sexual tension between them, so this feels inorganic and out of nowhere.

I feel like I’m hate reading at this point.

Let has those pick me vibes I hate in a FMC. She doesn’t think she’s pretty, but somehow all the hot guys pay attention to only her and shun the other girls at the party whom just seethe with jealousy towards her. Ugh 🤢 Unless they are looking for a piece of ass and then she’s just one of the guys encouraging them to objectify girls and get laid. She’s the worst.

She’s scared of him to the point of wanting to hide so he can’t find her. Yet she gets jealous when he calls another girl by her unoriginal nickname of Princess. He hates her for things that were out of her control, things we don’t yet know for sure, yet he wants her with his every breath. It makes no damn sense. It’s trying very hard to be enemies to lovers, but failing to convince me.

Cupcake…Let… These are terrible nicknames.

Luca has blue eyes one paragraph and green the next. I know this is a nitpicky complaint, but this is on the same page FFS.

Enjoying the book, but not enough to put aside tv shows and video games to read instead.

The denial is annoyingly strong with this one. 🙄

I couldn’t remember some of the minor characters from Fourth Wing, so I looked them up on a site for fans of the book. Unfortunately, they also included updated statuses for all the characters after Iron Flame with no warnings and I think I stumbled on a HUGE spoile!! 🤬
