Oh myyy what a denouement!!

This is insane

Okay even before this scene I decided I Hated Blue’s Dad — he’s like the most insufferable gifted student that grew up and never learned to respect or recognize the humanity in people who are less well-read than him. But now he’s extra annoying!

I have caught TWO editorial errors in the book at this point. I should be paid for this work!!!

I can’t believe I’m finally reading it!!

There are just too many basic white dude names in this novel set in England in the 1700s that I can’t keep them straight! (Pete, John, Joseph, Thomas…). I literally need first name last name as a reminder at the start of every chapter haha

This book is so funny!! Genius to juxtapose the witch trials and the influencing / mass hysteria that happened there with the small scale hysteria that happens in every good high school sports team BUT there actually is some kind of spirit at play. Much foreshadowing that it doesn’t ALL work out as they want but damn if I don’t want them to win states so bad!!

And so the great reread in preparation for The Rose Field begins!!

I have only now accepted that we are being ROBBED of ANY scenes of Anne visiting Green Gables! V upset

Are movable stacks the Checkov’s gun of the library in horror novels?!???? Only one way to find out!

Man the last section is even more bleak than when I first read this 9 years ago

I hate how the reader of the Crispin Hershey section reads women’s dialogue ughhhhhh

From what I can tell so far, Zenia seems to have done these women a FAVOR by seducing their very unhelpful men. Not sure what could convince me to change my mind!

This book is giving me so much anxiety already lol

So fun to return to this series as an adult. Really loving all the wool-work descriptions! From sheep to yarn nearly all in one location — beautiful! Almanzo’s mother is so talented. Really appreciating all the descriptions of the work they did!

Damn can’t believe I read this for the first time nearly ten years ago 😳

The stream of consciousness writing really takes you out of the action of the fire, and I was looking for a fast paced book for a road trip. Not convinced by reviews to finish unfortunately
