I was craving a smutty little audiobook with an absolutely insane premise.

The book isn’t great! Characters are pretty flat, dialogue is repetitive and stupid, but I wasn’t expecting a work of art when I picked up a book about an NHL player time traveling to regency-era England. I just hope the smut is worth it.

Current thoughts:
-Lotta proper nouns going on here and Hoid and Design went to this planet to figure out what happens when a god is killed, that’s gotta tie into the cosmere as a whole
-my bet is that Connection is a god and it was killed on Nikaro’s planet but a tiny part survived and summoned Yumi to come help?…

1. This story has great potential for a musical adaptation.
2. Love love love the esthetics of the two worlds.
3. Hoid is my sweet snarky weirdo trickster buddy and I’m so happy my introduction to the cosmere has heavily involved him.

This book really is all fun and games, whimsy and sarcasm, and then BAM out of nowhere some beautiful prose perfectly describing the feeling of simultaneous nostalgia and comfort and haunting ennui.
